I’m an Environmental Education grad student, and your question is my field of study. I’d be very interested to know if you hear of any other studies taking this question on.
My personal opinion is that it will, eventually. I’m sure we’ll start seeing people in the field pretty quickly, with their iPads in zip-lock baggies.
They may also help citizen-science take a big leap forward. Fun to see where it leads.
