More Information on Deer and Vegetation

As a society, we are beginning to recognize that a burgeoning deer population is a problem of our own creation – an unintended consequence of eco-environmental gentrification, if you will. The Friends of the Blue Hills (near Boston) is to be commended for furthering the public discussion on this critical issue, found at:

One solution, that a lot of people don’t like to hear, is to reduce the doe population. Does typically give birth to two fawns annually. In many protected areas or suburban areas, the only predators that deer deal with are automobiles. It creates a scenario for population explosion.
